Mystery Castle Latest Update

On May 2nd, 2026, the Friends of Mystery Castle, a task force of Preserve Phoenix, hosted a community forum to introduce Erick Harrell of Harrell Family of Companies as the new owner of the Mystery Castle.  The community forum was attended by over 60 people and was the culmination of months of extensive stakeholder engagement and exploration of multiple non-profit and private sector options to define a vision for community uses for the Mystery Castle, a preservation implementation roadmap to rehabilitate the site, and models for its future operational and financial sustainability.  Erick presented examples of his previous preservation projects and a vision for creating a destination event venue at Mystery Castle that allows new generations of Phoenicians to experience this unique landmark.  His presentation was followed by a robust Q/A session that resulted in enthusiastic support for his commitment to preserve Mystery Castle and address the critical needs of the South Phoenix community.
